Known Issue

When installing EASY5 2010, the software setup routine can't find the installed Intel Fortran 11 compiler, even though it is actually installed.

Description

The Windows Registry keys that the EASY5 installer looks for with regard to Intel Fortran (IVF) changed with version 11.x of IVF. This causes the EASY5 Setup program to not be able to find IVF 11 even though it is in fact installed.

Workaround:

The easiest workaround is to add the missing Windows Registry entry that EASY5 is looking for.

At this point, be very careful -- everything you do is "volatile" (there is no undo). If you don't feel comfortable doing this, find someone else to do it for you or contact your IT department. You always take some risk using the Registry Editor, especially if you are not familiar with it, or are careless.

Save the text below into a text file named easy5.reg somewhere on disk Windows

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\INTEL\Compilers\Fortran\version\EM64T]
"ProductDir"="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Intel\\Compiler\\11.1\\version_path\\"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\INTEL\Compilers\Fortran\version\IA32]
"ProductDir"="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Intel\\Compiler\\11.1\\version_path\\"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\INTEL\Compilers\Fortran\version\EM64T]
"ProductDir"="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Intel\\Compiler\\11.1\\version_path\\"

(where version = some number, such as “111.065”, and version_path = some number, such as "065")

So in the case for IVF version 11.1.065, the lines would look like:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\INTEL\Compilers\Fortran\111.065\EM64T]
"ProductDir"="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Intel\\Compiler\\11.1\\065\\"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\INTEL\Compilers\Fortran\111.065\IA32]
"ProductDir"="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Intel\\Compiler\\11.1\\065\\"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\INTEL\Compilers\Fortran\111.065\EM64T]
"ProductDir"="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Intel\\Compiler\\11.1\\065\\"

The fields marked in red are specific to the installation version of IVF 11 and may vary from one user to the next. Thus, the end-user needs to specify the correct path here.

Then, from a Windows Explorer shell, you right-click on this file, and select the Merge option. This adds this registry key to the registry.

Once this has been done, you simply reinstall EASY5 2010. Or, if it is already installed, then from the Control Panel, go to Add/Remove Programs, select EASY5 2010, and then select Modify. This will run the EASY5 setup installer again. This time, EASY5 should recognize the Intel compiler and thus configure EASY5 to use it.

Solution:

This issue will be fixed in a forthcoming release of EASY5.
