Abstract (Question)

What is hostID and how to find it?

Description (Answer)

Windows:

Open command prompt > type:

>getmac /v

The command will show below output (list of available network card names with their hostIDs/physical address).



Always use physical network card (Local Area Conn) address to avoid problems.

Or

>ipconfig

Ipconfig command will also show the details of network card but it shows long list including other details.  

Linux:

Open terminal and run:

#ifconfig

or

#ip addr
