What is discussion and why title of a discussion is so important?

Topics / Questions: You can start a discussion by “Asking a Question”. All posts in this area are in the form of a “Question” related to a Topic or Subtopic. MSC Products (e.g., Nastran and Adams.) are aligned with parent topics. Some Topics contain subtopics aligned with areas of product functionality (e.g., Nastran Optimization and Adams Flexible Bodies).

The first post of a given question thread establishes the subject by which all subsequent replies will be known. Once there's been a reply, the discussion subject or title cannot be subsequently changed. It's therefore important to get the subject right from the outset. Make it contextual and specific as possible. For example, “How do I make a marker move on a part during simulation”, is much better than something completely generic, such as 'Moving marker in Adams!'. Not only is it more likely to elicit a response, but it'll also make it much easier for all posts in the thread to be subsequently located.

What are groups?

Groups are used for public and private collaboration around a topic. This can be in the form of either a Post or a Question.

Is there a text editor and spellchecker?

There is a text editor and you can format the text: BOLD, ITALIC, and Underline. You can also use the numbered list and bullets.

There is no spellchecker available; however, your browser may help. If you want to be sure that you are word perfect, you'll have to spellcheck your post in some text editor and then cut and paste it into the MSC Communities edit box.

Can I bookmark a post?

Yes. You can bookmark a post as you save a website. All bookmarked discussion will appear in “My Feed” section.

What if I make a mistake in my post?

Users can edit their own posts. Where the change is substantive, you should mark the post as edited so as to alert viewers to the changed content. For cosmetic changes its better not to do so.

Will questions always be answered?

Most questions are answered by users with experience in the question's field of application. They have provided answers in the past when it required little preparation time. It isn't reasonable to expect other users to do a lot of work to answer your questions. Some questions are answered by specialists at MSC, but they have no obligation to respond to these questions. If your question is not answered on the discussion MSC Communities, and if you are eligible for technical support with MSC.Software Corporation, you may submit your request for assistant by following standard technical support channels. https://simcompanion.mscsoftware.com/infocenter/index?page=content&id=KB8019304
